Camps
The children in Year 4 to Year 6 participate in a camp experience as part of the curriculum provided at Mater Dei.
Typically, Year 4 and 5 participate in a two day/three night day camp program, while the senior students will travel either to Tangalooma or Canberra. A trip to Tangalooma focuses on the conservation of the marine area of Moreton Island. A trip to Canberra involves visiting many attractions that support the curriculum including: Old Parliament House, New Parliament House, The National Museum and War Memorial, and Questacon. The costs of attending the camp and visiting Canberra or Tangalooma are in addition to school fees paid.
Excursions and Incursions
Class teachers organise appropriate excursions and incursions for their students that will further enhance or support the curriculum they are learning. Sometimes parents are invited to help out on these occasions. The role of the parent on excursions is to assist the teachers supervise the students.
